Care Instructions

For both safety and durability of the furniture, do not place close to any source of heating. Use your furniture for its intended purpose and avoid sitting on edges of cushions or perching on the backs of arms of your furniture. Be aware of items that can snag or mark your furniture. For regular care of exposed timber features, simply wipe down with a slightly damp cloth. If using a furniture polish it MUST NOT contain SILICONE as this can soften the special coatings given to maintain its look and character.

To care for your vinyl:

Protect from sunlight and heat. Rotate reversible cushions regularly. Use a soft brush to loosen particles and vacuum regularly using low suction with a clean upholstery attachment. Do not wash or dry clean cushion covers. Regular maintenance and prompt cleaning of stains is recommended. Check cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first. Remove bulky matter with a flat blunt blade. Blot off liquid soiling. Prepare a neutral pH mild soap solution or use pre-prepared Crypton Leather/Vinyl Cleaner. Gently apply the solution onto the soiled area with a soft brush. Rinse detergent off with clean water and a soft white cloth and allow to air dry. Do not use solvent based cleaners and ensure all detergent residue is completely rinsed off. Do not scrub. It is very important to replace oils that are removed naturally during the cleaning process. Apply Crypton's Leather/Vinyl Protector with a damp sponge to restore beauty and lustre back to the surface. Annual professional cleaning is recommended.

To care for your feather, foam or fibre filled cushions - Feather and fibre filled cushions should be shaken and fluffed regularly. Regular fluffing will help to maintain the special look that soft fill cushions provide. Some foams can lose initial firmness with use and this is to be expected. All cushions should be rotated regularly to even the wear.

To care for your leather:

Leather is one of the most durable coverings for furniture. It is a natural product; no two hides are the same and variances in appearance are normal. Creasing overtime will occur with use and handling. To care for your leather covered furniture item, protect from sunlight and heat. Rotate reversible cushions regularly. Dust and wipe down the leather with a clean damp cloth weekly. Concentrate on the head rest and arm rest areas plus any other areas where body oils come in contact with the leather. Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust, crumbs, pet hairs etc. Once in every three-four months of normal use, give your leather an overall clean with a tannery approved leather care product, that is suitable for the leather. To add extra suppleness, apply a leather conditioner for upholstery as the last step. Remove all liquid and food spills immediately. Wipe with a clean cloth dampened with your above leather cleaner. Do not use show, saddle, floor polishes or laundry cleaning products. Do not use solvents or cleaning fluids, abrasive powders and paste cleaners. Do not wet excessively. Do not scrub. For persistent marks seek professional advice.

To care for your pile fabrics:

Protect from sunlight and heat. Rotate reversible cushions regularly. Prior to use, apply only water-based soil resistant fabric protector treatments. Prepare a neutral pH mild soap solution or professional fabric cleaning solution. Gently apply the solution onto the soiled area with a soft brush. Do not saturate the fabric or interior with water or other cleaning liquids. Rinse detergent off with clean water and a soft white cloth to allow to air dry. Do not use solvent based cleaners and ensure all detergent residue is completely rinsed off. For stubborn stains an upholstery liquid stain remover with water may also be applied gently. Do not scrub. Annual professional cleaning is recommended. Piling can occur occasionally as a result of normal daily wear and should not be considered as a fault. Fibre pills can be removed by a battery-operated pilling tool available from most haberdashery stores. The orientation of pile fibres will be disrupted when sat upon, resulting in an apparently different shade of contact areas. This disruption of the pile fabrics and consequent apparent colour changes are inherent characteristics and should not be considered as defects.
